FKTU Celebrates its 70th Anniversary
"We will step our efforts to promote fundamental workers' rights"
The Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) commemorates its 70th anniversary on 10 March 2016.
FKTU President KIM Dongman said in his keynote speech, "The FKTU has developed into an independent trade union national center with one million members, overcoming the difficult times and hardships under the former military dictatorship and promoting organizational transparency and internal democracy. We will step up our efforts to strengthen grassroots trade union movement not only for union members but also for Korean people."
Mr. Guy Ryder, Diretor-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and Ms. Sharan Burrow, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), sent their congratulatory messages and Mr. Noriyuki Suzuki, General Secretary of the ITUC-Asia Pacific, delivered his solidarity message during the celebration.
