The FKTU celebrated the 68th Anniversary at its headquarters on 10 March 2014 in parallel with a charity event with an aim to share hopes and dreams with the underprivileged.
KIM Dong-man, President of the FKTU, stressed in his opening remark, "The future we build together is an equal and welfare society in which labor is highly respected"
He pointed out, "Workers and ordinary people are suffering from more pains since the new government was inaugurated a year ago. The government is not recognizing teachers' and government employees' unions and trying to shift the burden of public corporations' debts on workers. Moreover, it unduly interferes in industrial relations in the private sector, attempting to worsen collective agreements independently concluded between labor and management.
He urged the government to stop oppressive and unilateral labor policy and engage in sincere dialogue with labor with forward-looking attitudes. Kim added, "The FKTU is determined to resolve the pressing issues such as labor law reforms, the government's anti-union policy on the normalization of public corporations, wage system reforms, social polarization and universal welfare."
The celebration was attended by many prominent figures from political and labor circles as well as from civil society organizations.
