The FKTU officials has a dialogue with Mr. Wim Kok. the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands.
On 6th March. Mr. Wim Kok. the former chairman of the Netherlands Trade Union Confederation(FNV) as well as the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands. visited the Federation of Korean Trade Unions(the FKTU).
First of all. he was greeted by Mr. LEE Yongdeuk. the President of the FKTU and Ms. HAN Myeongsook. the leader of Democratic United Party(DUP) who also visited the FKTU.
Mr. Lee welcomed him by saying. ˝Mr. Wim Kok is a outstanding leader of trade union movement. who has shown us a role model of tripartism. social dialogue and social reformist trade union movement˝. Ms Han also expressed that she was feeling strong comradeship with him since what he has been pursuing is the same value as DUP aimed for. She also added. ˝what we achieved under democratic governments for 10 years have been totally collapsed under current MB administration. Especially the social polarization has become worsened and deepened in our society so that we now face the time to rebuild the economic framework for 99% of population who is mainly workers and middle class citizens. This is the main reason and our promise of the collaboration between DUP and the FKTU.˝
Mr. Wim Kok appreciated the hospitality and warm welcome and then replied. ˝I respect the dialogue between DUP and the FKTU. As sunshine today. I sincerely hope the bright and shining future for the relationship between the FKTU and DUP.˝
After the meeting with leaders of the FKTU and DUP. Mr. WIm Kok had a meeting with FKTU officials. He especially would like to share his experience as a trade unionists as well as a politician. He said. ˝experiences which a leader of the FNV for 12 year were very helpful when I became a political leader˝. Then he continued to say. ˝Employment is not only agenda of the trade union movement. Trade Unions should broaden its agenda inclusive of life-work balance and measures for aging society˝.
